The Auberge du Cellier is one of my favourite restaurants in the Roussillon area, with consistently good food and excellent service So I was delighted to see that they have introduced a new offering – a tapas menu on Sunday evenings, served only on the terrace of the restaurant.
The menu consists of 6 tapas and a dessert and costs Euros 25, exclusive of wine. When I was there recently, the tapas were red peppers stuffed with cod, sea snails with aoli (or alternatively humus if snails were something you couldn’t manage !), pain tomate, duck cassoulet, and moules marinieres . The dessert was rousquilles, those delicious icing- covered little cakes with Chantilly and icecream.
You can choose to have 3 different glasses of wine chosen to accompany the various dishes, at a cost of Euros 15 or alternatively the same wines at 6 euros a glass.
Compared with the weekday lunch menu at Euros 19, which is really excellent value, the tapas were somewhat expensive, but the idea makes a pleasant change and as the menu says, a way to keep away the Sunday evening blues!
