This has to be one of the best VFM (value for money!) restaurants that I have visited in a long time.
From the outside a typical small town cafe, with formica tables, and shade umbrellas, but when you climb the narrow stairs to the first floor of the building it’s like going back in time to how everyday French restaurants used to be , the important thing being the food not the room.
The dining room is long and narrow, totally unassuming and with little regard for any attempt at stylish decor., so much so that at first sight you begin to wonder what you are getting in to!
But fear not, the food is excellent -all home made, and cooked and served by a husband and wife team, who take great pride in their dishes.
On the day of our visit, the starter was home made gaspacho soup or Catalan salad, followed by roast pork with prunes or skewers of lamb with peppers, and a choice of baked nectarine or apple tart as dessert. All absolutely delicious, and all for a price of Euros 13, including a quart de vin.
So if you’re looking for a bargain head to the Cafe des Sports!
We went there after I read the review, and it is actually an extremely good deal. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the food? Delicious!
Two thumbs up!
