Les Petites Sorcieres is a neighbourhood restaurant just around the corner from where I live – and it could easily become a bad habit!  The chef, Ghislaine Arabian, was previously at the 3 star Michelin restaurant LeDoyen, but a couple of years ago she branched out in her own place and has created a busy, if somewhat cramped restaurant, with prices geared to the man in the street,  but with high-flying cuisine.

At lunchtime there are menus at 20 and 25 Euros, but if you don’t book in advance, you probably won’t get in as the place is taken by storm every lunchtime, though I haven’t eaten there in the evening.  Ghislaine is Flemish so there are some interesting Belgian dishes, and in particular a fish dish called waterzooi where the main ingredients are swordfish and fennel in a fish broth.   Otherwise the menus are fairly traditional though the starters, such as pigeon tourte or vegetable terrine, are often unusual.

The wine list is extensive but reasonable and all in all this is a most attractive restaurant offering excellent cuisine and a welcoming atmosphere.
