Nu is definitely my favourite restaurant of the summer – and just looking at their menu in order to write this review brings back such wonderful memories!
It is situated in the old quarter of Girona, but in a modernised building, and the dining room is bright and airy with a great bar, where we sat, with a front row view of many of the very elaborate dishes being prepared in front of us.
The food has definite Japanese overtones, but there are also many Catalan touches – and the menu is so extensive that it’s really difficult to make a choice. We finally decided on the gourmet menu at Euros 43.75, which seemed to offer a good overview of what was on offer and we were not disappointed. In fact we spent most of the afternoon in the restaurant and our planed visit of the Fiesta des Flores had to be somewhat curtailed!
The presentation of each dish was a work of art and the pride that the staff took in making sure everything was just perfect was a joy to watch. I am attaching a copy of the menu we chose to give you a real idea of the delicacies we enjoyed.
The dishes on the a la carte menu varied in price from Euros 8.75 to Euros 16.90 and included a large selectioin of tapas and dishes to share.
The wine list was exclusively Spanish and we chose a white Penedes, Clot dels Oms, which at Euros 16.75, was excellent value.Wine by the glass varies betwen Euros 4.25 and 4.95.
Our lunch was a truly exciting experience and I will definitely be making a return visit.
