I’m not a great fan of pizza, but Otto’s really convinced me otherwise and I shall be going back to try some more of their numerous varieties!
The owners, Tom and Rick, discovered cornmeal crust pizza (which is made with organic wheat, polenta and flour) in Portland, Oregon when they were visiting the States in 2010. They were enthused by this new type of pizza crust and decided to try it out in London. And the rest is history…
The dining room is small and casual , but very busy, and the cooking is done right behind the bar, so you can watch it all happen before your eyes. The day I was there two ladies were cooking, but the chefs rotate on a regular basis.
The pizza is sold by the slice , or by the pan, which contains six slices ( more than enough for two people). We chose a mixed pan to share because each slice was different, and we had, amongst others, balsamic red onion and sweet corn, spinach and artichoke, and pulled BBQ pork. They were absolutely delicious but I still couldn’t finish the third slice! The fillings are piled high in a deep dish crust and every day there are three special pizzas on offer in addition to the regular menu. The slices vary in price from £3.95 to £4.95 each and the mixed pan of six slices is £21.50
There are also goat’s cheese or chicken salads available. The desserts are home-made cookies and pecan pie – so the whole atmosphere is very U. S. of A , further emphasized by a choice of American beers . Soft drinks and wine are also on offer.
But try the pizza – you will be astonished!
