La Table d’Aime, 66600 Rivesaltes

La Table d’Aime  in Rivesaltes  belongs to the Maison Cazes, one of the best known wine-producers in the Roussillon .  It is called after one of the founders of the business, Aimé Cazes, and opened in 2010 in the main Domaine building which has a lovely courtyard with a fountain , perfect for summer dining, with an inside dining room for the winter months.  Most of the products used in the kitchen are organic, like the Cazes wines,  and nearly all the produce comes from the local area, which abounds in fruit and vegetables and the cheese and bread are also from local producers. The fish comes direct from the neighbouring ports

The chef is Sebastien Colombier, and he changes the menu every day according to market availability. The night we were there  some of the starters on offer were rillettes of sardine, cold artichoke soup with crayfish or tartare of sea bass. Amongst the main courses were noisettes of local lamb, filet mignon and sea bass with chorizo.  Desserts included a chocolate parfait, a cottage cheese dessert with cherries and a lime sorbet, and almond tuiles.

The menu offers various price combinations:  one dish is Euro 21, 2 dishes is 28 Euros and the whole 3 course menu is 34 Euros.  There is also a Menu Dégustation, which includes a glass of  wine chosen to accompany  each course, for Euros 44.

Cazes is particularly known for its sweet wines: white and red Grenache, Rivesaltes and Muscat,  which are served as an aperitif and also to accompany the desserts. The Domaine participates in an initiative to revive some of the abandoned vines in Collioure which is proving very successful,  and some of these wines were also available.

The service was friendly and the staff totally bilingual French/English.  In the summer the restaurant is open every day for lunch and dinner.
